Brooke Phelps, LCSW

Brooke Phelps, LCSW, earned her undergraduate degree in History at The University of Maryland and realized her fascination with the past was understanding how circumstances shape individuals, families, and communities. This ultimately led her to a more present-focused helping profession – Clinical Social Work. She earned her Master of Social Work at Columbia University with a focus on clinical work in health, mental health, and disabilities. Brooke has worked with diverse client populations presenting with a variety of mental health concerns in inpatient, medical, and community-based settings. Brooke has training and experience in a number of treatment modalities including behavioral and psychodynamic therapies, which allows her to create treatment plans to meet each client’s individual goals.

Approach

By practicing from a strengths-based approach, Brooke focuses on building resilience, self-esteem, and coping skills so that clients are better equipped to face challenges while simultaneously, celebrating achievements. Brooke is an active, collaborative therapist with training in a variety of therapy modalities, including CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed therapy.

Brooke takes special care to ensure clients feel informed, prepared, and supported throughout their work. By creating a safe, collaborative environment, Brooke empowers clients to identify areas for growth, explores patterns that are no longer serving them, and provides practical tools to make lasting, positive changes.
